CEPR and the Gender Imbalance in Economics...

CEPR is committed to correcting the current gender imbalance among its Fellows and Affiliates and in recent years, has taken a number of steps to identify promising young female economists and to appoint them as CEPR researchers. In 1999, CEPR appointed Professor Philippe Weil (a member of its Executive Committee and former Programme Director) to address this imbalance. He is in regular contact with CEPR’s Researchers, requesting that they identify promising female economists and when appropriate, suggest them for appointment as CEPR Research Fellows and Affiliates.

The aim of the policy is to send a strong positive message to women in the profession that CEPR is actively working to achieve a more equal gender balance among its researchers. In order to help achieve this objective, CEPR makes a appropriate allowance for childcare and other family responsibilities in its appointment decisions.
