CEPR's RSS Feeds CEPR now provides RSS feeds (also called "web feeds") for many sections of its website. You can choose from one or more feeds announcing the latest news and new Discussion Papers.
What is an RSS Feed?
The technical acronym for RSS is “Really Simple Syndication”, an XML format that was created to
syndicate news, and be a means to share content on the web.
To make RSS much easier to understand, RSS stands for:
I’m “Ready for Some Stories”. It
is a way online for you to get a quick list of the latest story headlines from all your
favorite websites and blogs all in one place.
Subscribing to an RSS Feed allows you to be notified when a website changes without actually visting
the website itself.
You need to install some software which can read RSS feeds. These software applications are called
News Readers and there are many types available, both free and paid for.
Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed
subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications
let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you can
either download your e-mail using Outlook, or keep it on a web-based
service like Hotmail. Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 have built in news readers.
Once you have installed a News Reader of your choice, you can then add RSS Feeds.
Where do I obtain a News Reader?
A list of
News Readers is here. Which one you choose will depend on your operating system.
There are News Readers available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS as well as Web based news readers.
The most commonly used News Readers are FeedDemon and Newsgator for Windows and Newsfire or NetNewsWire on the
Mac OS.
How do I subscribe to RSS Feeds from CEPR?
Anywhere you see this icon on our site
Clicking on the icon will give you the link or URL for the particular feed.
Just copy the Web "address" or URL of that page and paste it into your news reader.
You will then need to follow the instructions for your News Reader software to add the RSS/XML Feed to
your RSS list. You should look for an option to "Add Feed" or "Add Channel".
Can I preview CEPR's RSS Feeds?
Yes, if you are using Firefox or Internet Explorer 7, when you select an RSS Feed from CEPR we apply a "stylesheet" to it so the
encoded headlines are readable within the web browser.
To preview our RSS Feeds simply select the RSS icon.
